San Sebastián Film Festival Hosts Key Event on Europe's Audiovisual Future

The 72nd edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival will showcase more than films this year!
On 22 September, industry leaders from across Europe will gather for an exciting event: "Alliances and Investments for the Consolidation of the European Audiovisual Ecosystem".
This special day, organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Function, is part of Spain's push to lead the digital revolution in the audiovisual sector with the Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe Plan.
During the event, Óscar López, Minister of Digital Transformation, announced €1.5 billion in additional financial instruments to support the audiovisual industry as part of a new phase of the Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe Plan. He highlighted that employment in the sector has grown by 93% in the last three years and that Spain is now the EU leader in investment in original European content by streaming platforms.
López highlighted Spain's long-standing creative talent, but noted that previous governments lacked the commitment to fully support the industry. He highlighted the government's current focus on promoting the growth of the audiovisual sector, not only as an industrial powerhouse, but also as a driver of values and attitudes.

"Alliances for European audiovisual production": Executives from RTVE, Arcadia Motion Pictures, Nordic 12 and others will explore how partnerships are shaping content production across Europe.
"New Business Growth Models in the Audiovisual Sector": Industry experts, including Atresmedia and Triodos Bank, will look at innovative ways for companies to grow in the evolving digital landscape.
The event will feature the Minister of Digital Transformation, Óscar López, and the Secretary of State for Telecommunications, María González Veracruz.
They will be joined by other influential figures who will provide insights into the future of Europe's audiovisual industry.
This event is a key part of Spain's Audiovisual Hub of Europe initiative, which aims to make the country a leader in digital transformation and audiovisual production.
