Social Security affiliation in Spain exceeds 21.2 million mid-September 2024

As of 13 September 2024, the number of workers with a Social Security affiliation in Spain has exceeded 21.2 million, marking the second consecutive day of a record high.
This milestone reflects a significant increase in employment, with 88,783 more people employed than at the end of August 2024.
In 2024, seasonally adjusted data shows an increase of over 351,000 new jobs.
There are currently 21,211,297 workers covered by social security.Since the beginning of the year, more than 26,000 jobs have been added in the last two weeks alone, bringing the total to 21.19 million.
Year-on-year data shows an increase of 475,196 affiliates, with a total of 1.84 million more people employed compared to pre-pandemic levels.
The Minister for Social Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, highlighted this achievement, saying: "The daily enrolment figures were once again above 21.2 million employed in September, demonstrating the strength of our labour market."
This continued growth shows the resilience and recovery of the Spanish labour market, maintaining a strong post-pandemic trajectory.
